ROCHESTER — A new business in Rochester is doing its part to help reduce plastic pollution.
Ronnie and Gracie Hanson of Farmington are the mother and daughter duo behind Rayne Refillery, opening Saturday at 14 North Main St.
"We co-founded the first store in September 2022 in Alton," said Ronnie Hanson. "We are what the name sounds like, a refillery store. Our products are all eco-friendly, sustainably made and a lot of them can be refilled right here, using the same containers, or other bottles the customer brings in. Less than 5% of plastics get recycled, so bring in your old Tide bottle, a Mason jar, and we will refill it with a product that works and is better for the environment."
Hanson said products sold at Rayne Refillery are all plant-based, compostable, biodegradable and ethically sourced. Many are made by the Hansons, but even those they carry from other vendors have to meet that standard.
