BELMONT — After having had to postpone his attempt at swimming the length of Lake Winnisquam due to a medical emergency last month, and losing most of the volunteers who were to have accompanied him in boats, Mike Welsch has decided not to attempt the swim Friday.
Welsch, who has a prosthetic leg, has completed swims on all of New Hampshire’s lakes except for Winnisquam, and he was going to make one more attempt today. However, he announced that he will postpone the swim until next summer.
“Feeling much better,” he said in an email. “I will swim next summer. I will get it done.”
