MEREDITH — There were no injuries when a car crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of Route 104 and Dow Road on Tuesday, but the area was closed as a wire was removed from the road.
A Jeep Compass came across the intersection to turn onto Dow, at about 3:20 p.m. on March 24, then went off the road, and struck the pole, according to Fire Chief Ken Jones. The pole was knocked into the road, bringing an electrical wire down with it.
“Nobody was hurt, and the area was isolated,” Jones said.
Police Chief Michael Harper said it appears the driver turned left onto Dow, and had trouble with the turn. He was unsure if speed led to the accident, but said there was sand at the intersection that could have caused the Jeep to slide.
The intersection was closed for 30 to 40 minutes while crews from the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative cleared the road.
