LACONIA — The trial of a New Hampton man facing multiple counts of possessing child pornography has been postponed for at least three months.

Jonathan Bristow, 54, of 1040A Route 132 North, Apt. C, New Hampton, had been tentatively scheduled to go on trial on April 16, but following a brief hearing Friday in Belknap County Superior Court, the trial was put off until sometime in July at the request of both the prosecution and defense attorneys.

"The parties agree the case should be continued to no earlier than July," the attorneys told the court in their written agreement which Superior Court Justice James D. O'Neill III approved.

The agreement also states that Bristow has waived his right to a speedy trial.

Bristow, who has been held in the Belknap County Department of Corrections jail in lieu of $100,000 cash-only bail, was indicted last month on 10 counts of possession of child sexual abuse images. The charges allege that Bristow had images of children in various sexual poses stored on his cellphone.

Belknap County Attorney Andrew Livernois said the charges against Bristow resulted from a joint investigation by Nashua and New Hampton police.

Possession of child sexual abuse images is classified as a Class A felony and carries a punishment of 7 1/2 to 15 years in prison.
