BELMONT — A Sanbornton man was injured when a pair of Chevrolet pickup trucks, both traveling westbound on Route 140, collided after drawing side by side just west of Dearborn Street near Tilton Sand Gravel around 6 p.m. on Friday evening.

The driver one truck, William Reece, 23, of Hale Road, Sanbornton, was extricated from the cab and taken to Lakes Region General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries by the Belmont Fire Department. The other driver, Jared Drouin, 24, of Coons Point Road, Belmont escaped without injury.

According to police, the initial investigation of the accident determined that the two trucks came alongside one another in a "no-passing" zone. The truck Reece was driving was forced into an embankment while Drouin's truck came to rest against a utility pole. Reece's truck was heavily damaged.

The Belknap Regional Accident Investigation Team assisted the Belmont Police with reconstructing and investigating the collision. The accident remains under investigation. Police urge anyone with information to contact either Officer Christopher Gustafson or Corporal Stephen Akerstrom at 267-8351.
