LACONIA — The city’s middle and high school buildings are still busy even after the last class ends, and the school board will hear about after-school activities at its meeting on Tuesday evening.
The school board will meet at 6 p.m. on Sept. 17. The meeting will be held at the district office at 39 Harvard St. and will be open to the public.
Among other agenda items will be a presentation about the district’s Office of Extended Learning, which includes opportunities for students outside the classroom.
At the middle school, about 100 students are expected to take advantage of after-school programming, which includes clubs such as STEM/Robotics, Destination Imagination, Cooking and Healthy Living, among more academic-minded pursuits.
GEAR UP NH, a federally grant-funded program, is aimed at college readiness for vulnerable students, and will affect 278 students in seventh and eighth grade this year.
Just under 200 high schoolers are expected to join after-school enrichment programs, which range from homework support to cribbage and Dungeons & Dragons.
Also on the agenda for the Sept. 17 meeting is a traffic study for Elm Street School.
