LACONIA — David Rousseau was severely injured last Friday in a single-vehicle accident, where he suffered a broken neck, broken hip and three broken ribs, according to Laconia Police Chief Matt Canfield.
The 57-year-old passenger was in the car with Chelsea Mambuca, 34, of Laconia, when the sedan she was driving crashed into a tree on Pendleton Beach Road Friday night. Both the driver and passenger airbags in the vehicle deployed. Both Mambuca and Rousseau allegedly were intoxicated, and Rousseau had a restraining order against Mambuca prior to the crash.
“She got in a motor vehicle accident on March 10, around 9:30 p.m.,” Canfield said. “She refused a field sobriety test and was taken into custody for a DUI.”
Rousseau was transported to Concord Hospital-Laconia from the scene. Due to the extent of Rousseau's injuries, Mambuca was charged with felony-level DUI with serious bodily injury.
“There was a restraining order Rousseau had on her,” Canfield added, “so that was a violation. She can't be within 100 yards, and being in the same vehicle is a violation of the order, so she was charged with that as well.”
