The city was blanketed with snow on Tuesday morning during the region’s first nor’easter of the winter. The storm, a result of cold from the north meeting a low pressure system in the south, was expected to dump 6  to 10 inches of snow on central and southern New Hampshire. The Lakes Region was right at the anticipated apex of the storm. Roads were slippery, though city plows were running Tuesday morning. A winter storm warning, published by the National Weather Service, was in effect from 8 a.m. on Tuesday through 4 a.m. on Wednesday. An arctic cold front was anticipated to bring the possibility of snow squalls Thursday afternoon and evening before gusty northwest winds bring extremely cold air into the region Thursday night, with expected wind chills below zero degrees Fahrenheit.
