An accident that occurred on Parade Road Thursday evening left three people injured, one of whom was subsequently charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated.
Laconia Police report that the two passenger cars collided just north of the intersection with Pickerel Pond Road shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday. There were two people in the northbound vehicle and one person in the southbound car. All three people were transported to Lakes Region General Hospital for treatment for their injuries.
The driver of the northbound vehicle, Kyle Swingle, 20, of 20 True Road #3 in Meredith, was subsequently charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. His charge was elevated to the aggravated level due to the severe injury sustained by his passenger. Swingle is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges in Laconia District Court on January 14.
The section of Parade Road remained closed for several hours as an accident reconstruction team investigated the scene.
