The Laconia Public Library will host an open house on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 1 to 4 p.m. The open house will offer people an opportunity to celebrate the reopening of the grand Gale Memorial building, as well as tour the new Laconia Savings Bank annex.

"Thanks to the generosity of the public, we have transformed the Gale Memorial building into an attractive, efficient and user-friendly facility," said Bob Selig, chair of the library's Board of Trustees. "This is our way of saying thank you for the community's support and patience during the renovation process."

Selig said the trustees are delighted to offer the complete Laconia Public Library facility to the community, including conference rooms and Laconia Rotary Hall. "The renovation and expansion of the facility allows us to grow our program and services in such a way as to meet the needs of Laconia," he said.

Renovations to the Gale Memorial building included remodeling the lower level to accommodate a modern Children's Department, which includes the Children's Story Time Area. "We are happy to host our first family event during Saturday's open house," said library Director Randy Brough. "Liz Rosenfeld is our featured story teller at 2 p.m."

The library staff will be available to provide information and answer questions about the facility and the benefits to the community. For more information regarding library programs and events, patrons may contract the Laconia Public Library at 524-4775 or visit "www.laconialibrary.org".
