TILTON — For those looking for a different take on mud season this March, ditch the dregs of dirt in your driveway and head to The Spa at The Lake Estate on Winnisquam for a pampering spa session.

The fresh eucalyptus added to the specially-curated and organic products offered at The Spa will have your skin feeling brand new, just in time for spring.

“In the Lakes Region, obviously March is a muddy month, so it just seemed to be a perfect cliche to follow through into the spa,” said Martha Zyla, director of spa and wellness at The Lake Estate. “I'm sure you could smell the eucalyptus. It's nice and refreshing. March is kind of a dreary month, so with the eucalyptus, I felt it was a little bit uplifting.”

The treatment begins in a dimly-lit and warm room with the placement of a weighted eye mask, helping to lull the guest into a meditative state, and ground them for the duration of the experience. The heated bed keeps you at the perfect temperature; not too hot and not too cold.

The esthetician will then begin by sloughing dead skin with a soft scrub brush, breathing new life into hair follicles and pores. The mud renewal process begins next as arms, legs, stomach and chest are treated with a purifying clay application, drawing out accumulated impurities while restoring balance and luminosity.

Hot towels are used throughout the pampering session. A soothing body scrub follows, and guests will leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

This hour-long spa offering begins in March — and it’s just one wellness experience offered at the resort.

Several restorative spa packages are also available, including the Lakeside Grove, Back to Nature and Lakeside Luxury, all varying between manicures, pedicures, facials, massages and more.

The Spa itself is very grounding, with soothing music and natural tones popping with hues of cerulean blue throughout. Fireplaces dot the spa lounge and a meditation pool sits outside, beckoning guests through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

“I want every guest to feel taken care of when they're here, feel safe when they're here, feel, you know, feel embraced when they're here,” said Zyla, who has made a career of caring for people.

The powder and dressing room boasts a sauna, and all treatment rooms are named for tree types, another nod to the land around Lake Winnisquam.

“Because I wanted to pay, you know, so much attention to the nature of the property when doing this, even my treatment rooms are named after the trees,” Zyla said.

Zyla emphasized her commitment to organic, sustainable products and custom-curated seasonal treatments that pay homage to the local landscape, such as the property’s apple orchards and Indigenous heritage.

The Spa’s signature, year-round scent also pays tribute with its apple extract, pine and minerals, but each month, The Spa offers a new scent tied to the season. For repeat customers, there’s always something new at The Spa.

The Spa’s estheticians are continuously trained to ensure each guest has a stellar — and relaxing — spa day. Escape the harsh winter New England conditions to a more grounding experience at The Lake Estate on Winnisquam.

“I truly, truly mean this when I say I love being of service to others. And I love when somebody leaves and will make a comment, like, ‘Oh, you just made it a wonderful day. I had a wonderful time,’ even if we only gave them an hour of respite,” Zyla said. “This kind of work is so gratifying. I take it so seriously.”
