LACONIA – The Huot Career and Technical Center at Laconia High School held their annual Celebration of Achievement on May 26. This year the center recognized 126 students from seven different local high schools who completed a 2-year technical program at the Huot Center.

The event was back in the LHS Auditorium this year after a drive-through ceremony in June of 2020. In order to support social distancing, four program-based seatings were offered this year and each student brought up to two guests. After the event, parents and students could take advantage of a photo area in the gymnasium, grab a congratulatory sign for their yard and chat with their instructor and classmates.

During the event, HTC Director David Warrender congratulated students and staff for their dedication and flexibility under the unusual circumstances of the past two-years. He noted that, despite limitations, students still earned college credits in high school, completed industry recognized credentials and that some even won awards at the local and state level.

In addition to certificates of completion, a number of students also received achievement medals and other special awards and scholarships. The center also pinned 19 new nurse assistants who had passed their state examination earlier in the week. Lakes Region Public Access Television offered a live-stream to those unable to attend in person. The stream is still viewable on the Huot website.
