Elisabeth Moreau’s career and college readiness seventh grade class took a field trip from Laconia Middle School to visit Daub’s Cobbler Shop in downtown Laconia on Wednesday morning. The class visited various businesses on Tuesday and Wednesday to learn about career opportunities. Owner Jim Daubenspeck asked the kids what they wanted to do as a career, and got responses such as baker, lawyer and business owner. Daubenspeck hired a student last year after they came in to visit for the class. “[We’re] not afraid to hire young people,” Daubenspeck said. “But you got to work, you got to show up and got to pay for yourself.”
