FRANKLIN — The 2019 property tax rate, as set by the New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration, is $22.47 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, an increase of 51 cents, or 2.3 percent, from the 2018 rate of $21.96 per $1,000.
The city’s net assessed valuation is $683,192,155, a decrease of $1,798,275, or 0.3 percent, from the 2018 valuation of $684,192,155.
That means that a hypothetical $200,000 home that paid $4,392 in taxes in 2018 might be valued at $199,400 today, and would have a tax bill of $4,480.52. This illustration does not take into account the new construction that contributes to the town’s net assessed valuation, and individual properties values would vary, based on the type of structure, location, and other factors.
The municipal property tax rate is $11.61 per $1,000, an increase of 18 cents, or 1.6 percent, from the 2018 rate of $11.43.
The county tax rate is $2.59, a 20 cent, or 8.4 percent, increase from the 2018 rate of $2.39 per $1,000.
The state education tax rate dropped by three cents, or 1.6 percent, from $1.92 in 2018 to $1.89 this year.
The local education tax rate increased by 16 cents, or 2.6 percent, from $21.96 in 2018 to $22.47 this year.
The total amount to be collected by taxes rose by $306,881, or 2.1 percent, from $14,760,391 in 2018 to $15,067,272 this year.
