George Condodemetraky, who serves as a selectman in the 1970s and has been a community activist from time-to-time since then, is once again trying to get a seat on a town board.

Condodemetraky signed up for several board positions last year but failed to win sufficient support for any on position.

This year, again, Condodemetraky appears to be ready to serve wherever he may be welcomed.

He has signed up for one of two three-year terms on the Planning Board. Incumbent Russell Davis Jr. will oppose him but so far long-time member Claude Patten is not registered for the race.

In another possible race for two seats three-year seats on the Zoning Board of Adjustment, Condodemetraky will square off against incumbent Pleasant “Bill” Oberhausen but incumbent Marshall Ford has yet to sing up.

On the Budget Committee, Condodemetraky is lined up for one of four three-year seats that will be open against previously declared incumbents Linda Frawley, Tonyel Mitchell-Berry and Mark Roberts. Current member Gary Flack is not yet signed up.

And so far only incumbent Sewer Commissioner Charles Hampe is registered to seek the three-year seat he currently holds. (In an earlier story it was erroneously reported that the seat of Chairman Richard Fournier would be up for re-election; Fournier’s term does not expire until 2011.)

Current Supervisor of the Checklist Dickie Wheeler is also ready to serve again and he has no competition at this time.

In the selectmen’s race, long-time member Reggie Caldwell confirmed this week that he will not seek re-election for another three-year term. Former Town Administrator Don McLelland and town activist David Morse are running for the position.

The deadline for signing up for this year’s races is Friday and so far few candidates have signed up, according to town officials. Voters will make their choice on Election Day, March 10.
