Police Chief Mark Barton administered the oath of office to new police sergeant Kevin McIntosh last evening to open the meeting of the Board of Selectmen.

McIntosh, who comes to Sanbornton from New Hampton, is filling a vacant supervisory role that Barton indicated is critical to the department.

"That leaves us with only one vacancy," the chief said, indicating that he's still short one patrolman on the seven-person force, but is currently doing background checks on a number of applicants. "I expect to fill that positon within the next four or five weeks."

Barton also introduced selectmen to his newly hired Department Administrative Assistant, Carolyn DiNitto.

"Having her here to perform administrative duties will allow me to return my focus to policing," Barton said, noting that too much of his time has been spent recently on office work.
