BELMONT — Paint Hair Salon is offering free haircuts for local children this weekend, Saturday, Aug. 22, to Monday, Aug. 24.

The free haircuts are offered to help prepare children for going back to school. Appointments are required, and anyone in Belknap County is welcome. The salon’s goal is to help local kids feel confident and ready as they enter their next school year.

Krystal Webb worked at shops in the Lakes Region for almost two decades before opening Paint Hair Salon in 2022. This is the salon’s first time hosting the special back-to-school event. Webb said the event was put together “very quickly.”

“When I presented this to the employees here at Paint, they did not hesitate to volunteer their weekend and time,” Webb said. “We quickly sent out a post on social media that got lots of traction throughout the day. My amazing team spent the entire day answering the phone and social media messages.”

The salon shared the offer on social media on Wednesday. By the end of the day, they booked 90 appointments across the three days.

“We were shocked at the response,” Webb said. “It goes to show you how many children in this area are in need of these types of services. We hope next year is even bigger.”

Webb, who has a child who attends Belmont Middle School, was inspired to “give back” to the community for supporting her business since its opening four years ago.

“This community has been so gracious to us since. It’s our turn to show some support,” Webb said. “We also personally know how amazing it makes you feel just to have a fresh haircut. We want all of these children to walk into school confident, and ready to learn.”

Paint Hair Salon is at 96 Daniel Webster Hwy, open 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. To book an appointment, visit painthairsalon.com or call 603-527-8155.
