An elevated level of bacteria in the water has forced the closing of the city's Bartlett Beach on Lake Winnisquam. The Parks & Recreation Department said the NH Department of Environmental Services will test the water again on Monday.

The city also announced on Friday that all "in-town" beaches would be closed after this weekend, although the bath houses will remain open (weather permitting) through Labor Day.

Weirs Beach will remain also remain open through Labor Day, with the exception of August 29 and 30.
