Vision Appraisal Technologies has begun its town-wide revaluation of land and buildings. Town Manager Carol Granfield told the Board of Selectmen Monday night the process will take 10 months to complete.
Granfield said appraisal work has begun along the Lake Winnisquam shorefront. The Northboro, Mass. based company will look at all waterfront areas in the town before moving to the interior.
Granfield advised that town residents who are concerned about people snooping around should feel free to request to see the special identification badges that all of Vision Appraisal's information gatherers are carrying with them. Information about where appraisal work is being done, at any given time, will be available on the town website (www.meredithnh.org).
Selectmen signed a contract for Vision Appraisals services around Labor Day. The firm will be paid $332,500 to revalue nearly 6,000 properties.
The town is under a corrective order handed down by the NH Board of Tax and Land Appeals to perform a full revaluation in time for the 2006 tax year.
In other business, Granfield informed selectmen the town will be the recipient of a $258,000 "transportation enhancement" grant through the NH Department of Transportation. She said the money will be used to install a sidewalk on the west side of Lake Waukewan, from Wall St. down to the beach.
