SANBORNTON — A 52-year-old motorcyclist died in an accident on Stage Road on Saturday afternoon. Police say the rider struck a tree after veering off the road while trying to negotiate a turn.

Sanbornton Police and Fire departments responded to the area of 168 Stage Road, also known as Route 132, at 3:08 p.m. on Oct. 11, for a report of a motorcycle accident. The operator of the motorcycle died at the scene, according to a media release from the Sanbornton Police Department.

Sanbornton Fire Deputy Chief Scott Taylor said his department responded to the scene. He did not know the cause of the accident.

“We had emergency response at the scene where the rider was pronounced dead, but this is all really being handled by the police department,” Taylor said.

Requests for further information about the crash were deferred to Police Chief Stephen Hankard, who was unavailable for comment on Sunday.

The motorcyclist's identity is private until the family is notified.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the Sanbornton Police Department at 603-286-4323.
