A group of 50 volunteers gathered to pick up trash and weeds around Franklin on Earth Day. Volunteers split into teams to cover Marceau Park, Trestle View Park, the Winnipesaukee River Trail, and downtown. Mill City Park Executive Director Marty Parichand and Franklin Savings Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Brian Bozak worked together to organize the event. Bozak brought 20 volunteers from FSB offices around the region. Sixteen students from Dave Pollock’s biology class at Franklin High School students, as well as Home Depot employees and city residents gave their time. Franklin resident Glenn Morrill leads a small monthly group that helps beautify the city. Their activities, in addition to cleanups and mulching, include hanging wreaths and lights. Parichand thinks events like these help develop community. “We want more people who live and work and play in this city to know one another,” he said. “And what better way to come together than cleaning up around town?”
