The Belknap County Sheriff’s Office held their third annual Haunted Hallways Halloween event on Wednesday night, inviting several hundred visitors to their station in Laconia. The free community event was open to the public and featured Belknap County Sheriff’s Office employees clad in classic Halloween costumes, guiding visitors through a haunted tour of the hallways within their office. Other officers greeted visitors outside while the police lights on sheriff’s office vehicles and equipment shone brightly in the night. Sheriff Bill Wright was waiting inside, tucked into a corner, dressed as a sort of dinosaur-cowboy, handing out candy to children and families as they entered the building. By 6 p.m., over 150 visitors had gone through the display, and several dozen mingled outside at the County Complex off North Main Street. Visitors started lining up outside the office around 4:45, Wright said. The event ran from 5 to 7 p.m. “It’s fun,” Wright said, noting the employees of his office try to change it up a bit each year to provide a fun family activity to the community.
