CONCORD — Richard Rosen of Belmont, Massachusetts, was convicted after a three-day trial of voting in two states.

Rosen, 85, was convicted on one felony count of wrongful voting related to voting twice in the Nov. 8, 2016 General Election, according to a press release from the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office. The jury found that Rosen knowingly checked in at the checklist at the Belmont, Massachusetts, polling place and cast a ballot after casting an absentee ballot in the same election in Holderness.

After the trial, the jury returned a verdict of guilty on the charge of RSA 659:34-a, Voting in More Than One State Prohibited, a Class B Felony.

“I extend my sincere thanks to the trial team and election officials in both Holderness, New Hampshire, and Belmont, Massachusetts, for their assistance and cooperation in the investigation and securing this conviction,” said Attorney General John Formella in the press release. “The Department of Justice will continue to hold accountable those individuals who commit voter fraud and attempt to take advantage of our election systems.”

Rosen was indicted on the felony charge in December 2022.

Rosen will be sentenced in July in Grafton Superior Court in Haverhill.

Senior Assistant Attorney General Myles Matteson and Assistant Attorney General Matthew Conley prosecuted the case with assistance from election officials in Belmont, Massachusetts, and Holderness, and investigated by Department of Justice Chief Investigator Richard Tracy.
