The first FIFA World Cup kicked off in July 1930. Almost 100 years later, the global tournament is still kicking. How well do you know the history of the world’s most popular sport? We’ve created a trivia quiz to test your World Cup knowledge.

The 2026 World Cup begins on Thursday, June 11, and continues through Thursday, July 19. Mexico and South Africa will face off in the first match, scheduled to kick off at 3/2c at Estadio Banorte in Mexico City.

The tournament can be streamed on the official FIFA+ platform. Additionally, fans can tune into games across ESPN, Fox Sports, Fox Sports 1, Peacock, and Telemundo.

North America is serving as the hosts of the 2026 games, so the host nations are the United States, Canada, and Mexico. After 48 teams compete across the continent in 104 matches, the final match will take place in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on July 19 at 3/2c. The last time the USA hosted the World Cup was in 1994, and it was a memorable time (look back on that World Cup’s most iconic moments here).

TV Guide Magazine‘s 2026 World Cup Preview Special Issue (linked above and below) provides an in-depth history of the tournament, player stats, expert predictions for this year’s games, and an extended version of the quiz below.

You can write in your answers in the print edition of the issue, while this digital edition is multiple choice.

Can you remember which player from Team USA is the all-time scorer? How about the youngest person to ever score a World Cup goal, or the first nation to ever score a goal in the tournament? Test your knowledge in the World Cup trivia quiz below.
