Now, details about Season 2 are starting to come through, including the addition of new characters and some familiar faces returning.

Read on to find out everything we know so far about Dexter: Resurrection Season 2.

Is Dexter: Resurrection renewed for Season 2?

Yes. Paramount+ officially confirmed the renewal of Dexter: Resurrection for Season 2 in October 2026.

The news coincided with the company’s decision not to move forward with a second season of the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin, which was renewed in April but will reportedly not go forward. Variety reported that executives at Paramount, which recently merged with Skydance, wanted to focus instead on the version of Dexter with Hall in the lead.

When will Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 premiere?

A premiere date has not yet been revealed, but bookmark this page for updates on that and more.

Who will star in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2?

Hall will reprise his role as Dexter, and Alcott will return as Harrison. Fans can likely expect to see James Remar to return as Dexter’s ghost dad-slash-voice of conscience, Harry Morgan. Plus, Uma Thurman will return as Charley, after the character’s fate was left in question by the events of the ending. Joining the cast for Season 2 is Brian Cox as the New York Ripper, Don Framt. Meanwhile, Dan Stevens has also joined as the second antagonist of the season, starring as Owen Stark a.k.a. the Five Borough Killer, who taunts the police with called-in threats of violence against innocent civilians, and follows through on them; Bokeem Woodbine will join as Capt. Mixon, a homicide captain described as a “bulldog”; and Nona Parker Johnson will portray Fiona Mixon, the captain’s daughter who is training in the homicide unit and becomes a new love interest for Harrison.

Others who could reprise their Resurrection roles include Kadia Saraf as Detective Claudette Wallace and Dominic Fumusa as her partner Melvin Oliva; Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara; Emilia Suárez as Harrison’s friend Elsa Rivera; JillMarie Lawrence as Constance; Reese Antoinette as Joy; Emily Kimball as Gigi; and Eric Stonestreet as Al a.k.a. Rapunzel. Two other Dexter originals who made cameo appearances in Resurrection and could possibly return are C.S. Lee as Vince Masuka and Desmond Harrington as Joey Quinn.

The first season also saw the return of several figures from Dexter’s past — namely, John Lithgow as Arthur Mitchell a.k.a. the Trinity Killer, Erik King as James Doakes, Jimmy Smits as Miguel Prado, and Christian Camargo as Brian Moser. So anything’s possible!

What will happen in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2?

Details about what the second season of the show are still scarce, other than the confirmations that Charley will be back, and the New York Ripper will come into play.

However, fans can expect it to continue following Dexter on his serial killer-hunting journey. In the first season of Dexter: Resurrection, Dexter survived the seemingly grave wounds he received at the end of the prior sequel series, Dexter: New Blood. He then moves to New York to reunite with his estranged son Harrison (Jack Alcott) and protect him from the investigators tailing him after he commits a deadly crime of passion. That included OG Dexter favorite, Angel Batista (David Zayas), but things ended on a deadly note for the former Miami Metro P.D. chief.

The series also featured Peter Dinklage as billionaire venture capitalist and serial killer obsessive Leon Prater, who ended up on Dexter’s table after an eventful finale showdown. Still to be determined is the fate of Charley, who was Prater’s trusted right-hand associate but left his company in a moment of rage, expecting the now-dead Prater to continue paying for her mother’s medical treatment bills. Also left alive at the end of Season 1 was Rapunzel, the only remaining member of Prater’s killer club aside from Dexter, who, as far as Al knew, was still just Red a.k.a. the Dark Passenger. The first season also introduced (and quickly took away) Neil Patrick Harris as Lowell a.k.a. the Tattoo Collector, Krysten Ritter as Mia a.k.a. Lady Vengeance, and David Dastmalchian as Gareth a.k.a. the Gemini Killer.

What else is there to know about Dexter: Resurrection Season 2?

Hall recently confirmed in an interview with ScreenRant that he is working to bring back a new version of the iconic original show intro for Season 2. The two prior spinoffs, New Blood and Original Sin, both famously recreated the morning routine theme for their intros, but Resurrection had yet to adopt the tradition.
