BRISTOL — The Pasquaney Garden Club and Minot-Sleeper Library responded to an idea from Audrey West of the Newfound Lakes Region Association to create a story walk in the butterfly garden behind the library.

The story walk displays the pages of "In a Garden" by Tim McCanna.

Story walks are installations featuring book pages displayed along a walking path, encouraging viewers to read while also enjoying fresh air, exercise, and the natural world around them. This story walk is up for viewing now. Audrey West and David Shangraw of Golden Leaf Landscapes did much of the work to install the displays.

The Passport Program encourages all ages to visit all three story walks in the Newfound Area, at Grey Rocks Conservation Area off North Shore Road in Hebron, Slim Baker Lodge and trails at the end of New Chester Mountain Road, and in the butterfly garden behind the library. For details about the program, visit minotsleeperlibrary.org.

As the gardening season begins to shorten, care of the butterfly garden will begin to focus on fall cleanup. Volunteers are welcome for these garden activities. The garden is large and makes social distancing easy, and offers the opportunity to meet and work with other gardeners, and get out to enjoy the outdoors.
