TILTON — William H. Keating Jr., 88, a longtime resident of Nutmeg Lane in Tilton, and later the Peabody Home in Franklin, died Sunday, August 27, 2006 at the Franklin Regional Hospital in Franklin following a period of failing health. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, September 10, 1917, son of William H. Keating Sr. and Ethel M. (Jordan) Keating. Mr. Keating lived in Wakefield, Massachusetts for over 35 years before moving to Tilton in 1986.

He graduated from Jamaica Plain High School and later received his degree as a chemical engineer from Northeastern University. He worked for many years as a draftsman designer with General Electric in Lynn, Massachusetts.

He was a member of the Thompson Country Club and member of the GENHAR (General Electric New Hampshire Retirees Association).

He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Helen (Harrington) Keating who died in 2002.

His family includes, his daughter and son in law, JoAnn and Robert Ward of Manchester, NH; his son and daughter in law, Walter “Terry” and Valerie (Larson) Keating of Ipswich, MA; grandsons, Benjamin and Nathaniel Ward of Manchester and Daniel Keating of Ipswich, MA; a sister in law, Jean Hearne of New London, NH; nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road in Tilton. Burial will be at a later date.

Those wishing may make memorial contributions in Mr. Keating’s name to either the Peabody Home, 24 Peabody Place, Franklin, NH 03235 or to the Franklin Regional Hospital 15 Aiken Avenue, Franklin, NH 03235.
