GILMANTON IRON WORKS — Wilfred Lee Sanville Sr., 74, of Mountain Road, passed away on June 8, 2026, at Concord Hospital in Concord.
Wilfred was born on Oct. 9, 1951, in Laconia, the son of William and Florence (Russell) Sanville.
He worked for the Town of Gilmanton and the Town of Gilford for many years. After leaving the highway departments, he worked in construction/excavation up until 1992. He always wanted his own business working for himself so he made that a reality in 1992. After several years working for himself, he and his son both decided to combine individual businesses which became what is known today as WLS Landscaping & Maintenance. He decided to retire in 2018, but always loved helping out and was always there for advice and guidance.
Wilfred loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed working on and/or building old cars, hot rods, or whatever has a motor. He enjoyed car shows and drag racing. If he didn't always answer the phone, he most likely was working on his own projects. He was always willing to help anyone, especially with their projects.
Wilfred is survived by his son Wilfred Sanville Jr. and his wife Kim; daughter Vicki Cady and her husband Henry; four grandchildren, Natasha and Natalie Brown, Noah and Justin Sanville; four great-grandchildren; brothers Gerald Austin Jr. and Dennis Sanville and his wife Debbie; sister Beverly Jenness and her husband Steve; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law Evelyn Sanville. In addition to his parents, Wilfred is predeceased by his beloved wife Brenda (Glidden) Sanville, brothers Tom Sanville, Robert Sanville and William Austin, and sister-in-law Rita Austin.
