Victoria Elaine Casana, 76, passed away Nov. 24, 2023, in Berkeley, California.

Vici was born in Nashua, to parents George and Rhea Casana. She led a life filled with beauty, adventure and friends.

Vici graduated from Laconia High School in Laconia, where she was on the debate team. She earned her bachelor of arts in journalism from the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri, and master of arts in English from Northeastern University, Boston, where her academic specialty was 19th century English authors.

After college, Vici opened a vintage clothing store in Berkeley. Returning to Boston, she worked as a book editor for Houghton-Mifflin, taught English at Northeastern and helped establish and implement a recycling program for the city of Cambridge, Massachusetts. In the 2000s Vici returned to the Bay area, moving to Santa Cruz and then to Berkeley where she continued her work as a book editor while teaching classes at UC Berkeley. Vici continued to pursue her passions of literature, music and vintage clothing and she always developed close friendships.

Vici is survived by her partner, John McCord; her brother John (Suzanne) and her sister Joy; her niece and nephews Charity (Ross), Jesse (Sabrina), Seth (Anna) and Johnny; and six grandnephews and grandnieces.

Vici's remains will be interred in the Casana family plot in Nashua. She requested a private service with immediate family only.
