GILFORD — Trudy Marie Hastings, 88, of Liberty Hill Road, passed away on March 8, 2025, at Concord Hospital-Laconia.

Trudy was born on Feb. 5, 1937, in Nebotein, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of the late Adolf Meixner and Cecilia (Reznicek) Meixner.

In her young adult years, Trudy played league basketball and later worked as a legal professional for the German government. Always fascinated by the subject, she earned her degree in psychology at the University of New Hampshire. Trudy became a pilot and traveled throughout the United States with her previous husband Dr. Hastings. For many years, Trudy frequently went skiing at Gunstock, played pool at the Elks Club, and swam at the YMCA.

She loved language and taught German and French at the Gilford Public Library as a volunteer. Trudy enjoyed classical music and often went to concerts, the symphony, opera, and musicals. She played the piano and enjoyed writing.

Trudy was a Christian and a great woman, mother, sister and grandmother. She will be sorely missed.

Trudy is survived by her son Fred Marshall and his wife Loretta of Forston, Georgia; brother Dolfi Meixner and his wife Marion of Germany; grandchildren Sara Marshall and Ashley Powell; great-granddaughter Lilly Cooper; and nephews Stephan Meixner and Philipp Meixner. In addition to her parents, Trudy is predeceased by her brother Gerhard Meixner.

A calling hour will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, also at the funeral home.
