FRANKLIN — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Mae Locke, 77, from Franklin. Shirley passed away peacefully at the Epsom Health Care Center on Dec. 14, 2024, after a year journey with dementia and Parkinson’s disease. A huge “thank you” to the amazing staff at Epsom Health Care Center. They made all the difference through this difficult time.

Shirley was born on March 18, 1947, in Dover, the daughter of Lucy and Donald Hebert.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Bruce Locke; her daughters Laurie Compton and her husband Scott of Meredith, Sherry Aube of Massachusetts and Nicole Adams of Bristol. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Derek, Dakota, Alyssa, Emily, Scott Jr., Natalie, and seven great-grandchildren; her best friend for over 30 years Alice Kench; and her fur baby Ivy, who joined her on Dec. 15.

Shirley worked as an LNA for over 40 years. Over the course of those years she worked at the Peabody Nursing Home, Golden Crest, Mountain Ridge, and right up until the beginning of 2021, she worked for a visiting nurse association.

Shirley enjoyed reading, shopping — especially on QVC — listening to country music and dancing. She was a faithful fan of "General Hospital" and the Hallmark Channel. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time with family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held the end of January 2025 in Meredith. The location and time will be provided at a later date.

“The world changes from year to year, our lives from day to day, but the love and memory of you, shall never pass away. We love you always and forever.” — Unknown
