LACONIA — Rudolph "Rudy" A. Gilbert, 64, of 7 Elizabeth Terrace, died at his home on Sunday, February 13, 2005. Mr. Gilbert was born July 25, 1940 in Rochester, the son of Oscar and Jeanette (Aube) Gilbert. He was raised in Rochester and was a graduate of Holy Rosary High School.
Mr. Gilbert served in the U.S. Army in the Army Security Agency.
Mr. Gilbert had been a resident of Laconia for the past thirty years. He worked for UPS for many years and owned and operated the Laconia Driving School. In the last years of his life, he worked for Freudenberg. He was a member of the Teamster?s Union and the United Union.
Mr. Gilbert loved spending time with his family, fishing and riding his motorcycle.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie "Margie" (Bradshaw) of Laconia; two sons, Ryan Gilbert of New York, N.Y. and Thomas "Tom" Gilbert of Portland, Maine; his brother, Larry Gilbert and sister-in-law, Judy Gilbert, and three nephews, Eric Gilbert, Larry Gilbert and Benji Gilbert, all of Rochester; one great-nephew; and one great-niece. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Donald Gilbert; and by a nephew, Greg Gilbert.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 17, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia. Rev. Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of the Church, will celebrate. Burial will be in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
