FRANKLIN — Ronald Charles Hodgdon, 79, of 14 School Street in Franklin, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at the Concord Hospital following a sudden illness. He was born in Franklin, New Hampshire, May 18, 1926, son of the late Charles E. and Florence E. (Martel) Hodgdon. Ron graduated from Franklin High School, Class of 1944. He went on to serve with the U.S. Navy until 1946.

From 1946 to 1953 he worked in reservations and was a space control agent for American Airlines; from 1953 to 1954 worked as front office cashier with the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.; from 1955 to 1962 as front office cashier and bookkeeper with the Raleigh Hotel in Washington, D.C.

After moving back to New Hampshire he was a teller and supervisor of the special services department at Concord National Bank and from 1966 to 1972 was a journeyman proofreader for Southern New Hampshire Typesetting Corporation in Concord. In the seventies he took clerical courses at the New Hampshire Manpower Training Center in Manchester.

Following his retirement Ron worked at the Blossom Shop in Franklin. He was of Roman Catholic faith. Ron was predeceased by his parents, and later, by his brother Richard E. Hodgdon Sr., who died in 1999.

His family includes, his sister, Phyllis Slattum of Huntington, Conn.; his twin sisters, Shirley Paquette of Beacon Falls, Conn. and Beverly Ryan of Ansonia, Conn.; his sister in law, Carol (Weeks) Hodgdon of Franklin; and

nieces, nephews and cousins

In accordance with Ron's wishes, there are no calling hours.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2005 at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road in Tilton. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Franklin.

The William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton is assisting the family with arrangements.
