Robert Philibert Sr.

1943-2023

FRANKLIN — Robert Philibert Sr., 79, was born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, to Mildred Whittier Philibert and Donald Philibert on Dec. 9, 1943.

Robert passed away at home after a brief illness on Sunday, Sept. 17.

He was predeceased by his mother, Mildred and father, Donald; and his sisters, Elaine, Lynn Philibert and Roberta Chambers; and his son, Robert Philibert Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rosalie Philibert of Franklin; his daughter, Cinda Case of New York; his sons, John George of Northfield, Michael George of Franklin, and his daughter Kelly George and her companion, Christoper Moses of Danbury; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and so many friends.

Robert worked many years driving tractor trailer for Bentley Warren Trucking out of Ipswich, Massachusetts. He also drove for Merrimack Carnage and M.C.Crowley Trucking for short periods of time. While working for Bentley’s he acquired the nickname “Rico.” He was also known as "Indian," "Chief," "Bob," "Dad," and most importantly, "Grampa." He worked part-time for the Tilton Car wash after retirement and the Soda Shoppe.

Robert loved riding his 83 “shovelhead,” which I called “Ole Yellow.” He enjoyed his time with his many friends, especially Dick Ackerson, whom he had coffee with at the Sanbornton store and who picked him up to go to the store when he couldn’t drive. His friend, Terry Drury, would stop by and give him his haircut. He liked family cookouts and spending time talking with family and friends. He always had a tale to tell and a laugh and big smile. His favorite place was on the deck watching the hummingbirds and any other wild life that happened to wander by.

He will be greatly missed by his fur babies, Holly, Oscar Madison and Spencer. They loved their human daddy.

There will be a graveside service, open to the public, on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 11a.m., at the Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.

There will be a Celebration of Life Oct. 21, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the VFW in Franklin. If you want to bring a dish, let me know so I can let the person in charge know.
