MOULTONBOROUGH — Robert "Bob" H. Wallace, 81, passed away Dec. 8, 2025, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Bob was a loving and devoted husband, loving father, and steadfast friend. Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, to Robert and Anna Wallace on Sept. 1, 1944, he attended high school in Fort Pierce, Florida. Later he lived on Cape Cod, and worked as a carpenter builder before enlisting in the U.S. Army Security Agency. Bob served in Vietnam and later in Bavaria, Germany, where he met and married Gabriele.
During these Germany years, Bob and Gabriele and their daughter, Sharon, traveled throughout Europe and Britain. Bob skied in the Alps, played hockey on local teams, and served as a firefighter for the army base.
Upon discharge from the service, the Wallaces returned to live on Cape Cod, before moving to Center Harbor, where Bob continued working as a builder. The family returned to Assling, Bavaria, and during the next six years Bob trained and worked as a cabinet maker.
Relocating to Moultonborough, Bob lived an active life as cabinet maker, builder, skier, golfer, and steam boater. He hosted and traveled to many “Army buddy” reunions and steamboat meets across the Northeast with golf trips to the Southeast during winters.
Bob had a great sense of humor and was a talented storyteller, an avid reader, and a graceful dancer. He was extremely compassionate and loved his many pets: cats, rabbits, dogs, and even a squirrel.
With this exceptionally full life, Bob still found time to serve the town of Moultonborough as library trustee; committee member for both Building Needs and Town Offices Building; and ski instructor for local schools. A life well-lived.
Bob was predeceased by his parents and his only child, Sharon. He is survived by his wife, Gabriele; his sister, Jane Scambler and family in Florida; and Gabriele’s brother, Karl-Heinz Donauer and family in Bavaria.
Bob was active in St. Andrews in the Valley in Tamworth, where a service in his honor will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28.
