MADISON, Conn. — Robert “Bob” John Boyle, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 201,7 surrounded by his loving family at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown, Connecticut.
Bob was born in Flatbush, New York, in 1929. He attended Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Brooklyn, New York, and Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey, before receiving a commission in the United States Marine Corp at the beginning of the Korean Police Action. He completed his service at the rank of Captain, USMCR. The experiences and friendships made during that time were important to him.
As a sales and marketing professional, Bob’s career culminated in the founding of Boyle Associates in 1977. During his 20 years of positive leadership at Boyle Associates, he mentored and contributed to the lives of many.
Bob retired in 1998 to spend time traveling and boating. He was often visited by his children and grandchildren, who delighted in his boat rides and ice cream sundaes. Bob loved being on the water, whether it was early morning breakfast runs or happily towing his grandchildren around the lake.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marjorie Clark, and his four children, Robert Boyle of Franklin; Denise Van der Voort and her husband Mark of Woodstock, Connecticut; Anne Yankopoulos and her husband George of Londonderry; and Thomas Boyle and his wife Noelle of Myersville, Maryland. He also leaves his nine grandchildren: Sara, Steven, Christopher, Timothy, Mallory, Alex, Julia, Natalie and Rylie. He is also survived by his sister Joan Obie, loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and many long time friends. He is predeceased by his first wife, Janice Boyle, and his sister, Carolyn Beaudreau.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 10 a.m. at St. Andre Bessette Parish - St. Joseph Church, 30 Church St., Laconia.
A burial with military honors will follow in the family lot in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia.
