HOLDERNESS — Richard (Dick) Herbert Cray, 81, of Holderness, NH, died on April 29, 2021, with family by his side.
Dick was born in Corinna, Maine, on July 16, 1939. He was the son of Herbert and Beatrice Cray. He grew up in Laconia, NH, and after graduating from Laconia High School he went on to graduate from Keene State College. Dick worked as a golf caddy, a patent maker in Lynn, MA, taught Industrial Arts at a high school in Stowe, VT. He was an active member in his church community his whole life and served on various church boards. He also served on the Plymouth Area High School board for a number of years. He loved to read, to build and to help others. He loved to sing, to laugh, enjoyed music, good clean jokes and had a very ticklish funny bone!
Most of all he loved God, his family and extended family. Family was always important to Dick. He and his wife Carol would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this summer. He was a much loved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, and will be greatly missed by all.
Dick was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Beatrice (Worthen) Cray, and his sister Beverly (Cray) Shaw.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol A. (Stevens) Cray; his daughter, Melanie (Cray) Blake and husband Peter of New Hampton, NH; his son, Marc Cray and wife Darlene of Sanbornton, NH; grandchildren Travis Blake, Audrey Blake, Austin Blake and wife Abby and Ethan Cray; brothers Wendell Cray and Robert Cray of Laconia, NH; sister Harriett (Cray) Biggs of Johnstown, PA; brothers- and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
