LACONIA — Sherry L. Reitz, 56, of 56 Cottonwood Avenue, Laconia, NH, died at home surrounded by her loving family and friends after a brave battle with cancer on October 30, 2010.

Sherry was born January 9, 1954 in Madisonville, Kentucky. Her husband, Karl, survives her, together they shared many years of laughter and adventure. She was an endearing sister to Deborah Amatucci, married to her loving brother-in-law Paul and step-sister to Sue Kuzma and John Kuzma, his wife Linda and their children Barbara and Tasha.

As a mother, she raised two wonderful children. Her son, Jason Hanks, married to Helen brought her two grandchildren to fill her heart, Eyan and Liam. Her daughter, Sarah Hanks, emulated her mother’s strength and propensity for giving.

As a daughter, she leaves behind her father, John Kuzma and joins her late mother Jonell’s welcoming arms.

As a niece, she enjoyed many a summer day with her Aunt Ruth and Uncle Tim Flynn watching the ocean waves and sharing tall tales.

As an aunt, she shared her wisdom and love with Julie and Heather Soprano.

As a step-mother, she enjoyed the extended love brought by Daniel Reitz, Amy and Phil Lovisek, their children Maximus and Hunter, and Whitney and Robert McCallum and their girls, Leah and Tessa.

As a friend, Sherry had many life long friends with lasting memories and gathered newfound friends with her spirit of giving and captivating smile.

Sherry is survived by many cousins and their children, and others touched by her life.

A celebration of her beautiful life and loss will be held on November 5, 2010 at 11 AM at the Gilford Community Church, 19 Potter Hill Road, Gilford NH 03249 with a reception to follow at her home on 56 Cottonwood Avenue, Laconia, NH.
