LACONIA — Philip McKinley, 90, passed away on Dec. 10, 2025, following a period of declining health.
Phil was born in New Britain, Connecticut, on Oct. 26, 1935, before moving with his family to New Hampshire. Phil graduated from Hollis High School prior to enlisting in the United States Marine Corp. He began his working career at Nashua Corporation before joining Stanley Elevator Co. where he worked for 35 years before retiring.
Phil gave so much of himself to all those he loved. In turn, he was blessed with an abundance of family and friends. As a teenager, Phil worked at the Bell Farm in Hollis, and became the “adopted” son of Hartwell “Spuddy” and Dorothy Bell, whom he affectionately referred to as Daddy-O and Mother Bell.
In 1961 Phil married Mary (Aylesworth). Together they raised their family in Hudson, before retiring to their beloved lake house on Stinson Lake in Rumney. Phil and Mary shared 41 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2002. Phil married Savillia Morrissette in 2004, and was welcomed into the Morrissette family. Phil and Savillia made their home in the Lakes Region — enjoying the views from Smith Cove and the Camp at Winnisquam.
Phil was a member of the Laconia Elks, where he enjoyed countless friendships, lots of laughs and playing pool. Phil was a competitive candlepin bowler — a passion he shared with his sons and many friends. He also enjoyed 10-pin bowling and a competitive game of Scat.
Phil is survived by his wife, Savillia Morrissette; his three sons, Brian McKinley and his wife Debbie of Hudson, Daren McKinley of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Shawn McKinley and his wife Glennis of Hudson; his stepdaughter, Sharon Chabot, and her husband Bruce Chabot of Hudson; his grandchildren, Stephanie McKinley and her husband Nate of Charlotte, North Carolina, Kyle McKinley and his wife Kristine of Hudson, Amy McKinley and her fiancé Andy of Charlotte, North Carolina, Meagan McKinley of Cleveland, Ohio, Matthew McKinley of South Boston, Massachusetts, Amanda McKinley of Allston, Massachusetts, Brett McKinley of Hudson, Paige McKinley of Hudson, Eric Chabot and Andrea Daniels; Savillia’s sons and her grandchildren, Douglas Morrissette and his wife Felicia, Audrey Morrissette, Sarah Morrissette, Lindsey Morrissette, Tyler Morrissette and Kendall Morrissette.
Phil was predeceased by his first wife, Mary McKinley; his mother, Simone (Pelletier) Marshall; sister Beverly Valcourt; brother-in-law Donat Valcourt; brother Ronald McKinley; brother Michael; bonus parents Hartwell and Dorothy Bell and their sons, Charlie Bell and Ricky Bell.
