LACONIA — Paul F. Alexander, 92, formerly of West Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away on Sept. 2, 2018.
Paul was born Jan. 31, 1926, in Barre, Vermont, to the late Paul S. and Gertrude R. (Fuller) Alexander.
Paul was a World War II veteran, stationed in the Pacific Islands with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946. He served with the U.S. Air Force Reserves from 1966 to 1986 before retiring as a master sergeant.
After his retirement, Paul moved to Danbury in 1989, opening a clock shop, repairing and restoring antique clocks.
Paul is survived by his son, Brent, and his wife, Margaret; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his beloved companion, Shirley Walker. They founded a beautiful friendship together. They enjoyed the hours they spent with dear friends, the Laconia Elders Friendship Club, eating out, and get-togethers with Shirley’s family, Susan and David Mitchell of Salem and Pam and Jack Manion of Laconia.
Paul was predeceased by his son, Kent, and brother Robert.
A social gathering in honor of Paul will be at Leavitt Park Club House on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 3 to 6 p.m.
Funeral services were held on Sept. 10 in West Springfield, Massachusetts. Burial with full military honors followed in Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield, Massachusetts.
