LACONIA — Michael "Mickey" Philip Bird, 69, passed away at the Concord Hospital in Concord on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019.

Michael was born on Dec. 2, 1949, in Worcester, Massachusetts, the son of the late Lawrence and Edna (May) Bird.

He was an active member and supporter of the Laconia Elks Lodge No. 876, rising to high-ranking positions, including past state president and exalted ruler. The Laconia Elks Hoop Shoot was his favorite yearly tradition. Mickey also enjoyed camping, playing pool, golfing and listening to the oldies. He was an avid baseball and sports fan.

Mickey is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 41 years, Marjorie (Cabral) Bird; his children, Robert Small and his wife, Jackie, of Concord, Richard Small of West Boylston, Massachusetts, Joel Boucher of Titusville, Florida, Sandra Guertin of Laconia, and daughter-in-law Heather Small of Massachusetts. Mickey also leaves behind 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers Walter Johnson and his wife, Shirley, of Massachusetts and Ronald Johnson and his wife, Margaret, of Massachusetts; sisters Eleanor Truit of California and Peggy Krukowski and Bonnie Greenwood of Massachusetts; as well as many other loving extended family members and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Mickey was preceded in death by his son, Darryl Boucher, and his granddaughters, Ashley Thomas and Amelia Boucher.

A Graveside Service with military honors will take place on Tuesday, March 5, at noon, at the N.H. State Veterans' Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.

A gathering at the Laconia Elks Lodge, 17 Sugarbush Lane, Laconia, will follow the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations in Michael's name be sent to the Laconia Elks Lodge No. 876, for the National Foundation, 17 Sugarbush Lane, Laconia, NH 03246.
