Maudora “Chic” I. Fredette, 69, of 217 Hodgdon Road in Northfield died suddenly April 16, 2007 at the Franklin Regional Hospital in Franklin. She was born in Franklin, July 28, 1937 daughter of the late Jesse and Evelyn E. (LaPointe) Griffin. Chic lived in the Franklin-Northfield areas for most of her life. She graduated from Franklin High School, class of 1955 and later went on to Margaret’s Cosmetology School. She worked from her home for several years as a hairdresser. For many years she was employed as a seamstress at the former Tilton Dress Shop in Franklin. She later was employed for 10 years as a data processor-computer operator with Healthsource-Cigna in Concord until 2006. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 1698 in Franklin and Women’s Dressmakers Union.
She was a longtime member of the Congregational Christian Church, UCC in Franklin. She was predeceased by her step father, H. Barney Adams, five brothers, three sisters and a great-grandson Ian Scott Phelps
Her family includes her sons and daughters-in-law, Walter “Chip” and Doralynn (Akerley) Fredette of Hill, Jonathan “Jody” and Rebecca (Farr) Fredette of Northfield; her daughter, Brooke G. Fredette of Northfield; eight grandchildren, Benjamin, Nicolette, Timothy, Trystan, Griffin, Jesse and Carter Fredette and Jared Wyatt; sister, Bettina “Betty” Taylor of Franklin; step sisters, Beverly Patten of Alexandria, Brenda Sharp of Alexandria; numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road in Tilton. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Congregational Christian Church, UCC in West Franklin. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery later in the spring.
