LACONIA — MaryAnn E. Ackerman, 74, of Laconia, NH died March 22, 2009 at Golden View Nursing Home after a period of declining health, with her husband Lionel by her side.
She was born in Burlington, MA on July 16, 1934, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Thomas) Laber. She was a graduate of Somerville High School, class of 1953. She had resided in Malden, MA, Wilmington, MA, and Derry, NH prior to moving to Laconia.
Prior to retirement, she had been employed in insurance customer service.
She enjoyed bowling and was a former member of the North Wilmington Merchants Bowling League. She loved playing scrabble, solving crossword puzzles, and traveling with her husband.
MaryAnn had volunteered as a patient escort at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia for six years.
Members of her family include her husband of nearly 50 years, James Lionel Ackerman of Laconia; her son, James D. Ackerman and his wife Renee of Jericho, VT; one daughter, Jeannemarie Ackerman and her husband Michael Moynihan of Henniker, NH; three grandchildren, Christopher D. Ackerman, Caitlin L. Ackerman, and Donovan Ackerman Moynihan; one brother, Albert Laber of Revere, MA; one sister, Thelma Little of Andover, MA; many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She was predeceased by one brother George Laber and one sister Althea Davis.
Calling hours at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St, Manchester, NH will be Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. A funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 28, at 11 am in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Manchester. Interment will be at a late date.
