MEREDITH — Kathie Anne Christiansen, 59, passed away Jan. 20, 2025, at Concord Hospital-Laconia.

Kathie was born Dec. 30, 1965, in Nashua to Joseph and Marguerite (née Burpee) Christiansen Jr. She grew up in in Nashua and was a graduate of Mt. Hope School. During her childhood, she participated in the Special Olympics earning medals in the swimming events.

Kathie worked for Digital Equipment Corporation in Merrimack and then as a kindergarten aide at Charlotte Avenue School in Nashua. After the family moved to Meredith, Kathie volunteered at the Meredith Senior Center and later the Laconia Senior Center.

Kathie loved music, dancing, walking her neighborhood, and the joy of just being with other people. She lived life with unconditional love for everyone, never judging and always taking them at face value. She had a gift which allowed her to know what other people needed without being asked or told. She exuded love and joy and managed to impart life lessons to those around her without knowing she was teaching them. She will be remembered always for her willingness to help, her empathy, her joyful humor, and her beautiful smile.

Kathie is predeceased by her devoted father, Joseph Christiansen Jr.; paternal grandparents, Joseph Christiansen Sr. and Anne (née Martin) Christiansen; and her maternal grandparents, Henry Burpee and Gabrielle (née Plante) Burpee.

She is survived by her mother, Marguerite Christiansen; sister Lori (Shane) Goodwin; brother Bryan (Amy) Christiansen; nieces Jocelin Goodwin and Kaienna McFarland; nephews Camden and Alexander Goodwin and Evan and Joseph Christiansen. She is also survived by her godparents, Robert Christiansen and Mary (née Burpee) O’Neill; as well as a godchild, Sarah (née Burpee) Denham; and many loving aunts, uncles and great-nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 17,  at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 300 Route 25, Meredith. There will be a small receiving line before the funeral service, starting one hour before the mass at the back of the church. Kathie loved the color purple. We ask that you wear something purple in her honor to her service.

Burial will be at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bedford.
