Judith A. Chase, 77
MEREDITH — Judith Alice Chase, 77, of Reservoir Road, Meredith, died Dec. 8, 2015, at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in South Tamworth on Oct. 20, 1938, she was the daughter of Clifford and Winnifred (Weeks) Downs.
Judy grew up in South Tamworth and graduated from Kennett High School, class of 1956. She had been a resident of Meredith since 1964.
She worked at the Inside and Out Look, in Meredith, for many years, and for the Inter-Lakes School District as a Chapter 1 teacher's aide, a reading assistant, and as lunch manager, for many years, until retiring in June 2004.
Judy was a member of the Ellacoya Chapter 43 Order of Eastern Star.
Judy is survived by her husband of 51 years, Errol S. Chase Sr. of Meredith; her daughters, Sherrie L. D'Onofrio and her husband John, of Lady Lake, Florida, Wendy C. Anderson and her husband Donald of York, Maine; her sons, Errol S. Chase Jr. and his wife Kelly of North Woodstock, and Mark C. Chase and his fiancé Tina Haslam, of Meredith; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; her brother, Clifford "Kip" Downs and his wife Cindy of Moultonborough; her sister, Janice Dearborn and her husband Alan of Meredith; nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held in Mayhew Funeral Home, Routes 3 and 104, Meredith, on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the First Congregational Church of Meredith, Highland Street, Meredith, on Monday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Russell Rowland, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Meredith Center.
