Joyce Marie Altomare, a resident of Tilton, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, at the age of 83.
Born on Dec. 24, 1941, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Joyce was known for her work at the Episcopal and Catholic soup kitchens and food pantries in Tilton, feeding the hungry and caring for the impoverished. “Nonie” was the grandmother to three grandchildren, a step-granddaughter, and a great- grandson, but she was everybody’s Nonie.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Cooper Wayne of Somerville, Massachusetts, and her ex-husband, Frank Altomare of Ossipee.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nadine (Altomare) and Jeff Stevens of Northfield; her stepdaughter and husband, Pamela and Pasquale Massaro Jr. of Florida; stepsons Mark Altomare of Colorado and Craig and his wife Kaitie Altomare of New Hampshire; her cousin, Joan Vacca of South Carolina; her granddaughter, Summer Marshall of Northfield; her grandsons, Kirk Altomare of Northfield, and Frank Harvey and his wife Sarah Preston and great-grandson Daeton of Belmont; step-granddaughter Danielle O’Neil of Georgia; and ex-son-in-law Scott Marshall of Florida. She was also honorary “Nonie” to Bonnie, Phil, Ryan, Trish, J.T. and Joe.
She died peacefully in her sleep at the home of John Killian in Bristol. In addition to this she was friends with a number of fellow volunteers in the area.
After a difficult life, we know that Joyce has found peace and solace in her God’s loving arms.
