John T. O'Hara, 74

LACONIA — John T. O'Hara 74, of Taylor Street, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center with his loving family by his side.

John was born Jan. 31, 1942, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, son to the late Richard Edward and Mae J. (Rouff) O'Hara.

He joined the Army in 1959 and served until 1962. During that time he was stationed in Germany during the Berlin Crisis.

He worked for 22 years in the flour mill at Allen-Rogers and later became the custodian at Belmont High School until his retirement in 2004.

John collected hats and model cars and enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.

John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Arlene (Leeman) O'Hara of Laconia; three sons, Shannon O'Hara and his wife Amy of Franklin, Richard O'Hara and his wife, Lisa of Spring Lake, North Carolina, and Adam O'Hara and his wife, Donna of Laconia; two daughters, Nena O'Hara, and Heidi Estes and her husband Joshua, all of Laconia; 10 grandchildren, Chelsea, Brandon, Shanon, Travis, Kayla, Destiny, Zach, Mikey, Noah and Aaron; six great-grandchildren, Xavier, Meagan, Spencer, Kassidy, Maci and Gabriella; one half brother, Robert Toppi and his husband, Michael Kelley of Bradford; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son, Bruce O'Hara; his brother, Donald O'Hara; and infant brother, Charlie O'Hara; and sister, Joyce Caulder.

Calling hours will be held Monday, Nov. 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance. A memorial service will immediately follow at 6 p.m., also at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 22, at noon at the State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.

For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to a veterans charity of one's choice.
