LACONIA — John A. Valliere, 79, of Winter Street, passed away on Oct. 15, 2026, at Concord Hospital.
He was born on April 2, 1947, the son of Arthur J. Valliere and Mary G. (Levoy) Valliere. John grew up in Gilford, in a small house with no indoor plumbing or water with his parents and four sisters. It was a simple life, but he was always thankful and grateful for all that he had.
John served in the Air Force until 1972. He loved his country and was deeply grateful for the freedoms secured by those who gave their lives in its defense.
After serving in the Air Force, John was working for IPC in Bristol, when he met the love of his life, Mary (Monroe) Valliere. They married in 1972, and had their only son in 1974, John R. Valliere, whom he loved dearly. He always said that having family was so important. He later worked for Harry Bean and Sons and Hebert’s Foundry and made many friends at these jobs.
John attended area churches with his wife Mary. He loved his savior, Jesus, and followed Him, witnessing to others of His mercy and love for all of us.
He enjoyed the last day on this Earth with his niece Cheryl and talking with his other niece Shirley. The ride with Cheryl included one of his favorite treats, a cup of Dunkin' Donuts coffee and a maple frosted donut, enjoying the scenic fall foliage. He was always in awe of the beautiful world we are blessed to live in.
The family would like to thank his nurse Gail for taking good care of his health, always listening and counseling him on his health, even when he didn’t feel his best; his home health aide, Nicole who cooked meals he liked, and sat with him for companionship, doing puzzles; his neighbors Ed and Carol, Skip and Gina, and Elaine for their help, so he could remain at home. He also enjoyed spending time with his friend Bob Cram for breakfast outings. He was fond of his landlord, Ronnie Dutile, and his wife Linda, for all they did for him. Without the support of his family, his neighbors, his landlady and landlord he would not have been able to remain in his home for 36 years.
Special thanks to the Laconia Fire and Police Department, EMS, and the many doctors and nurses of both the Laconia and Concord Hospital for their help and support during this difficult time. Their compassion and tireless efforts were greatly appreciated.
He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur J. Valliere and Mary G. (Levoy) Valliere; his former wife, Mary (Monroe) Valliere; three sisters, Jessie Hurd, Carolyn Williams and twin sister Joan Rand.
He is survived by his son John and his wife Lori; four step-grandchildren, Keith and Ariel Maclean of Homosassa, Florida, Ethan Fogg of Ashland, Brandon Fogg, of Meredith, and Brianna Fogg of Plymouth; sister Daisy Valliere; brother-in-law David Rand; nieces Shirley Holmes, Cheryl Walsh and her husband Jim, Lynn Monier and her husband Jeff, and Kerri Ebright and her partner John; nephews William Peavey, Timothy Peavey and Jim Hurd; great-nieces Bobbijo Turcotte and her husband Troy, Kendall Morrissette, Madison Monier and Mckenzie Monier; great-nephews Tyler Morrissette and Tyler and Andrew Hurd; and great-great-niece Devin Turcotte.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, at Bayside Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome.
