GILFORD — Jacek "Jack" Wawrzynski, 57, of Chalet Drive, died at his home on Monday, July 7, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jack was born June 2, 1946 in Germany, the son of Janusz and Barbara (Piekarska) Wawrzynski, shortly after the family left Poland by way of the underground during WWII. He and his family resided in England for several years before immigrating to Canada. Jack came to the States to attend Boston University and eventually made his home in the New England area. He had been a resident of Gilford for 21 years. Jack did become a United States Citizen on July 7, 2000 of which he was very proud.

Jack had been an employee at the Concord Hospital for approximately 13 years in the lab's chemistry department before working in toxicology at the Boston Children's Hospital and the New England Medical Center. In 1994 he became the Director of the Drug Testing Lab, State of NH Department of Corrections, a position which he maintained until his death.

Jack had many passions in life including music, theater, skiing, boating and reading. His greatest passion was for his family and close friends. He was a member of the Street Car Company.

Survivors include his wife, Holly (Aebischer) Wawrzynski, his daughter, Tatianna Wawrzynski, and his son, Nicholas Wawrzynski, all of Gilford; his brother-in-law, William Aebischer; and a niece and three nephews, all of Amherst, New York.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2003 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, on Friday, July 11, 2003 at 10:00 a.m.
