Greg Oliver Seog, age 75, formerly of Livonia, Michigan, passed away at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton on Dec. 25, 2023.
He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph V. Seog; mother, Dorothy B. Burk Seog; brothers, Bruce H. Seog and Mark A. Seog, all of Livonia, Michigan.
He is survived by his brother, William Seog (Wanda) of South Lyon, Michigan; sister, Donna Clayton (Don) of New Bern, North Carolina; and sister, Lori Seog of Franklin.
Greg was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in 1968 and completed basic training at Fort Knox. Greg served as a military police officer for two years and was stationed at Fort Gordon in Georgia as well as Stuttgart, Germany, during this time. When looking back at the time he spent serving our country, Greg recalled his most vivid memories were of traveling across Europe where he was able to explore Germany, Holland, Denmark, Switzerland and Austria.
Since 2011, Greg resided at the NHVH. Over the years the NHVH staff became a second family to Greg, and his first family is eternally grateful for the love, respect, patience, good humor and true kindness shown to Greg over the past 12 years.
Greg will be remembered fondly by all for his genuine warmth and ready smile. Greg was an exceptional athlete in his youth playing hockey, football and baseball. He continued to be passionate about sports and could be found regularly cheering on his beloved Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Lions — as well as cheering for his adopted Boston teams (yes, even this year’s New England Patriots).
There will be no calling hours and a private service will be held in Michigan at a later date.
Memorial remembrances can be made in Greg’s name to NHVH Resident Benefit Fund at the New Hampshire Veterans Home, 139 Winter St., Tilton, NH 03276.
